Google Earth Overlays and Placemarks

*UPDATED* Hurricane Katrina Imagery!

I just recently downloaded the new Google Earth Beta.

After playing around for a while, being the curious person I am, I tried to see how I could add my own points of interest. Now, days later I have spent a ton of time figuring out how to do it, and searching for existing user submitted data.

Basically user data comes in two forms,

.ETA Files are image overlays, or layers. Basically they take a regular jpg image and lay it over the terrain map at a particular set of coordinates.

.KML Files are actually just xml files following the keyhole/googleearth format for placemarks and or routes.

To import either kind of data, simply open the files after installing Google Earth, then move the imported data to your My Places folder inside google earth, from the Temporary folder they will be placed in automatically.

The following is a selection of files I have found from the Keyhole BBS that really show off the ability of Google Earth. I will update this list as often as I find new, cool things to add to it.
