About

Hi there folks, my name is Tyler Gibson. I’m a 26 year old, 6′4″, 210lb guy.

I was born in Greensboro, NC, raised there along with a brief stint in Charlottesville, VA, and currently live in Raleigh, NC.

So what’s my story?

I do a lot. I mean, people say that, but they really just do the same thing over and over again. I do a lot of different things.

I grew up playing on the computer, learning for more than a kid should know about them. I loved video games, trains and building toys. Pretty much all three loves are thanks in large part to my dad, George. In fact I still have all of my trains and building toys, legos, contrux, erector sets, omagles and even the lincoln logs.

I also grew up as a fat kid. As a result, my loving parents had me involved in damn near every sport on earth. I LOVE playing sports. Started with soccer for almost 8 years, then came football and baseball and basketball. Got into tennis and golf, ping pong, bowling, shotput, and more recently into endurance sports like marathon running and triathlons. Along that line, I also love hiking, scuba diving (NAUI certified!), skydiving, sailing, biking, motorcycles and driving.

North Carolina State University has been my home for the last 8 years off and on. I got my BS in Computer Science in 2002, and I’m currently finishing my masters degree in Industrial Design there now. Love the school, love the people, love the town.

I’ve worked in landscaping, helped build the Land Rover test track in Wilmington, NC. I worked as a web developer for the Greensboro News & Record, freelanced for years, as the lead developer and project manager for 3Core Communications, and as a web architect for the NC Dept. of Public Instruction. I’ve done IT consulting for businesses, network installations, custom computer sales, ran a retail store, worked as an interface designer for HumanCentric in Cary, NC, done industrial design contract work through the university, and have recently started working with Line Inc. doing product and furniture design work.

That all you ask? Just one more thing I promise.

I love to travel. I’ve driven around the US twice, been to 46 states, and 14 countries in Europe. I lived in the caribbean for a short stint (HELLO St. Maarten!) and loved every minute of all of it. I can’t way to get on the road again and I really want to make it to Japan, China, South Korea, Australia and New Zealand before too much longer.

So there you have it, short and sweet.
